Section 04-011  Patron Attendance at Board Meetings
Patron Time is an integral portion of the regular meeting agenda.  USD 263 Board of Education desires that the patrons of the district have an opportunity to speak on any concerns that may or may not be on the agenda.  This policy provides that opportunity in an organized manner.  The board will provide a maximum of twenty (20) minutes to accommodate persons wishing to speak.  Once Patron Time has concluded, the audience becomes solely a viewing public for the remainder of the meeting unless called upon by the Board President or acting president to provide clarification or discussion on agenda items.

Helpful Hints on Patron Time:

1.  Be prepared to state your name and address and to fill out the patron information card available at the podium

2.      Be well organized for your presentation

3.      Have a spokesperson for a group with the same concern

4.      Try to limit the presentation to three (3) minutes

5.      Be prepared to answer questions from Board of Education members

6.   The BOE will take the information presented under advisement but will generally not respond to issues presented during patron time.

The USD 263 Board of Education expects patrons will use the democratic process that has been provided.  The board must require an organized and controlled environment so decisions can be made in an efficient and effective manner.
