05-016 Suspension of Pupils
The Superintendent shall have the power to suspend from the privileges of the
schools any pupil guilty of gross misconduct or persistent insubordination to
school organization and/or regulations. Any
such suspensions shall not exceed 90 school days.
The right to expel is a power retained by the Board, and any such
expulsions shall not exceed 186 school days.
If a suspension or expulsion is for a term exceeding the number of school
days remaining in the school year, any remaining part of the term of suspension
or expulsion may be applied to the succeeding school year.
In all such cases the procedures as set forth in KSA 72-8901, et. seq.
shall be followed. The
Superintendent shall have the authority to use probation as a form of discipline
in individual situations where the use of probation is deemed to be appropriate.
