I. Students will understand and apply media techniques and processes.
 
1.1 Fluently communicate through at least one visual arts medium.
1.2 Identify, define and solve challenging visual arts problems independently, through analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.
 
(1.1.1) Apply an advanced level of proficiency in at least one art medium to create a piece of sculpture using subtractive and additive sculptural techniques.
(1.1.3) Justify selection of media, techniques, and processes to express ideas, feelings, and experiences.
(1.1.5) Organize and install personal art work in an exhibit.
(1.2.1) Apply an advanced level of proficiency in at least one medium.

II. Students will use knowledge of structures and function.
 
1. Demonstrate the ability to compare and contrast the use of structures and functions in art work and defend their personal opinions.
 
(2.1.2) Analyze the relationships among structure and function in works of art.
(2.1.5) Translate conceptualizations into actual 2-dimensional works of art.

III. Students will choose and evaluate a range of subject matter, symbols, and ideas.
 
3. Evaluate and defend the validity of sources for content used in works and appraise the manner in which such content is used.
 
(3.3.1) Examine and evaluate a variety of subject matter and symbols for communicating meanings, ideas, attitudes, views, and intentions and how they evoke particular responses to art.

V. Students will reflect upon and assess the characteristics and merits of their work and the work of others.
