TECHNOLOGY-Computer Concepts II

Course Description
Computer Concepts II is an advanced level class that builds on the skills learned in Computer Concepts I.  Document formatting will include letters with special features, memorandums, tables, agendas, forms, reports, purchase invoices and orders.  Students will create a business plan using various formatting features.  Students will complete several office simulations.  Students will also learn to design simple web pages.  Students will design presentations using presentation software.

  Pre-requisite--Offered to grades 11 and 12.  Student must have attained a passing grade in Computer Concepts I

  Course length—95 hours—once class period per day for one semester.  One-half credit.

  Course outcomes:

1.                  The student will continue to format text with minimum instruction to enhance the appearance of a word processing document.

2.                  Students will continue to work with special word processing tools such as cut and paste and search and replace.

3.                  Students will learn how to create electronic presentations.

4.                  Students will continue to advance skills in database applications.     

5.                  Students will work with graphic layout and design to produce newsletters, brochures, posters, etc.

6.                  Students will extend skills in working with spreadsheets.

7.                  Students will search the web using various strategies to find information.
