PHILOSOPHY OF UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 263

Since educated people is essential to the preservation of our democratic way of life, we believe our prime objective is to prepare the child to live in, and contribute efficiently to the society of which he is a part.  We believe that every boy and girl of suitable age is entitled to an education which fits his needs.

Our objective therefore shall be:

            1.         Personal development in mind, body and character.

            2.         Ability in those fundamental skills necessary in our present society.

            3.         Ability to work with and for others.

            4.         Preparation for economic self-support through vocational training or preparation for higher learning.

            5.         Preparation for intelligent citizenship.

            6.         Training for the wise use of leisure time.

            7.         Preparation for worthy home membership.

The policies, rules and regulations which follow have been constructed, and should be interpreted in the light of these objectives.
