Another Successful School Year

On Friday, April 27th, MMS students celebrated an all school reward party for doing their best on the state assessments. Students and staff spent the day at All Star Adventures in Wichita.  The students were very excited about the day and we were excited about celebrating with them. Everyone had a great time. A big “THANK YOU” goes to the teachers; the students and the parent support which helped to make this a successful and rewarding event.

I would also like to thank parents/guardians for entrusting your children to us this school year.  I would also like to thank you for the positive support you have offered this year.  I hope your middle-schooler had a rewarding experience, as well.  We have seen increased test scores, less failing grades, and positive interactions amongst the students.

A Few Reminders:

Dress Code:  Warm weather is here.    Please refer to the dress code section in the student agenda.  On occasion there have been some short shorts (in-seam must be 4”), tops that are very low cut for our girls; and large sleeve holes on shirts for the boys.  Students are not permitted to write on themselves.  Consequences for students have ranged from receiving marks on their conduct cards to a change in clothing.  Students who have been dealt with repeatedly may have to have a parent bring a change of clothes. Your help is appreciated.

Meal accounts: Meal cards are important for students who choose to eat breakfast and/or lunch at school.  If a student forgets their card, they are to receive a pink slip (only 3 lunch meals per month; sack lunch on the 4th time). After May 14th students must maintain a positive balance in their account.  If they are negative, they will receive a sack lunch (which is also a charge). If you have any questions about your student’s account, please call the office any time.

Obligations:  Fines, overdue library books, negative lunch balances and fees must be settled before grade cards are released.  Students owing detentions will have to owe some In School Suspension time and miss-out on class rewards and the Conduct Card Party.  Please help us help your child enjoy the last week of school by taking care of these obligations

SPORTS PHYSICALS at MHS

Every year Mulvane physicians come together to help student athletes with their required sports physicals.

Tuesday, May 22nd                           5:00 – 7:00PM

Cost:  $25

All money is donated back to the Mulvane School District Athletic Department.

Who needs a physical?  …Cheerleaders attending summer camps, athletes for all sports.  These physicals are good for the 2012-13 school year.

Outside Competition:  If your student is planning to participate on an outside team, it is important that the coaches and students follow KSHSAA rules to stay eligible for interschool athletics:  “From the first Tuesday following Labor Day through the last Friday preceding Memorial Day, no more than three players (Basketball) four players (Volleyball) from the same school squad may practice or participate together on the same outside team.  Participation by more than three squad members on the same team shall make them ineligible for the remainder of the school year.”
