Baby Chicks are Hatching at MGS!

Spring Is In The AirThe Big Day has Arrived!

Thanks to Parent/Student Duo, Mrs. Jana Knodel and Jaden Gillespie, two of our 5th Grade classes have been able to partake in the nearly 3-week process of waiting and watching for their baby chicks to start hatching. Mrs. Knodel and Jaden set up an incubator in Mrs. Headrick's classroom to hatch nearly 20 chicken eggs, always keeping a close eye on maintaining the perfect temperature and humidity for the chicks to develop and survive. The students have been watching patiently for the past 21 days to see the beginnings of the hatching process and in the recent 48 hours, three of the 20 chicks have hatched. The students were able to watch the third chick hatching from the first pip crack to the final stage of hatching from the shell. A big thanks to Jaden and his Mom for providing this opportunity for our grade school students to learn about the amazing process of Spring Chick Hatching!! Please enjoy our time-lapse video below to see the third chick hatching from its shell, provided by 5th Grade Teacher, Mrs. Headrick.
