Getting into the "Flow".
As the school year begins to unfold, certain challenges come before us. I dedicate much time to teaching our students what I call "student skills". What can the students do that will improve their chances of learning the skills they need? Organization, self-reflection, self-discipline, and responsibility are all vital for success. These characteristics are as important to the learning process as the lessons themselves. My impression of the general education teachers at Mulvane Middle School is completely positive. I have worked at many buildings in many districts in my long career, and the teachers at MMS are true professionals.
Encourage and assist your child to develop a system of homework completion, check their agendas for daily notes on each class, and make certain you are checking their grades for assignment completion. When these student skills are mastered their grades and more importantly scores on district and state tests will rise.
