Welcome!
By Shane Dayton
Welcome to my home page! My goal as a music teacher is to give each child basic music skills and an interest in music that with be life long.
This is my 18th year teaching music in Mulvane. I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Kansas in 1994 and my Master's in Elementary Music Education from Wichita State in 2007. I'm married and have two children in the Mulvane School district.
All students who enter my music classroom will be in a general music education environment. I will be teaching towards the 9 National Standards for Music Education which are as follows:
1. Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
2.Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
3. Improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniments.
4. Composing and arranging music within specified guidelines.
5. Reading and notating music.
6. Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.
7. Evaluating music and music performances.
8. Understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.
9. Understanding music in relation to history and culture.
*************I truly believe there is nothing sweeter than the singing voice of a child***************
