Welcome to Mrs. Jelinek's class

Who says that you can't learn something new everyday? Well, you should come to Kindergarten!
Hi! I'm Deb Jelinek and I teach one of the half-day Kindergarten programs at W.D. Munson Primary School. I began my teaching career in Kindergarten after graduating from Fort Hays State University and then, was given the opportunity to teach second and third graders before returning to Kindergarten.
Growing up in the country, it only seemed natural to continue to live in the country and that's where I, along with my husband who just retired from teaching, farms and raises cattle with our two sons. My fall, winter, and springs are spent focusing on school, but my summer duties have switched to be more of a cook and "go-for", so a truck and tractor driver I am no more.
I enjoy flowers, food, and traveling (even if it is just to go check cattle in a pasture). Arranging flowers or helping decorate is a lot of fun for me.
I hope to make learning fun for students too. There is so much joy in being able to see a child's spark from learning ignite into knowledge. My hope is to give children the opportunity to think, experience, and create sparks that will open the doors for them to become life-long learners.
