Supporting students, family, and staff on the educational journey
The USD#263 Autism Interdisciplinary Team (AIT) was formed in response to the growing incidence of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). About 1 in 68 children are identified with ASD according to estimates from CDC's Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network. Autism is a group of complex developmental neurological disorders. The main developmental areas it may affect include communication, socialization, and behavior.
The AIT members have been extensively trained through the Kansas Technical Assistance System Network. Their mission is to support Kansas school districts in building local capacity to serve students with diverse learning needs through results based professional development training and technical assistance.
The team will work within the MTSS process to provide staff with research-based intervention strategies.
The team will complete screenings to determine if there is a need for additional support services.
The team will utilize assessment/diagnostic tools to assist in educational placement and appropriate services.

The team will provide informational meetings for families to help address school, home, and community needs.
