National Honor Society (NHS) is a nationally affiliated organization to which a select group of juniors and seniors will be invited to join at Mulvane High School.  Criteria for membership include the following:
  • Scholarship: To be eligible to apply for membership, juniors and seniors must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.500.
  • Leadership: The applicant must show evidence of leadership including such activities as holding an office in school, church, or community organizations.  Taking an active role in the classroom is also a measure of leadership ability.
  • Service: The applicant must show evidence of service give to the school, church, or community.  Examples may include helping with service organizations such as FCCLA, KAY, and SADD, tutoring students, assisting elderly people with home chores, etc.
  • Character: The applicant's character must be judged by others to be honest, responsible, and respectful of the rules of the school and the laws of the community.

All four criteria are of equal importance.  Only students who have attended at least one semester at MHS may be considered.

To even be eligible to apply for membership in NHS is an honor.  To be selected is a sign of excellence as a student and as an individual.
