2nd Semester Off To a Great Start!
by Traci Becker, Principal
The staff and faculty at MMS hope everyone had a safe, restful and happy holiday. The students are back in the familiar routine and adjusting very well, (we saw lots of extra energy when they returned!)
8th grade students are one step closer to being a high school student. Parents may not want to hear that just yet. However, MMS teachers, staff and administrators take the role of preparing these young people for high school very seriously.
We want this last semester to be a positive one for all students as well as stressing how important this semester is as they prepare for next year. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns.
Fundraiser Assembly for Wichita Children’s Home is a Success
On December 20th, MMS held the annual Fund Raiser for The Wichita Children’s Home. It was a big success. Mr. Huss and 8th grader Blake Wilson (last year’s class champion) raced their CO2 cars. Mr. Huss’ car won the best two out of three races this year. A select group of 6th graders (6 per team) battled in a contest of musical chairs involving the quickest in making a lay-up and getting back to their chair. This year’s champ was Brett Nelson. Last, the faculty challenged the MMS Basketball teams in an exciting game. Students paid $2.00 at the door to attend the assembly. This event raised $1,015.00 for the Wichita Children’s Home.
1st Semester Conduct Reward Trip was fun at the Movies
94% of the student body earned the conduct reward for 1st semester. The students enjoyed a private showing of the 3D Movie, Hugo. Everyone had a great time. Thank you to the Derby Plaza Cinema for the extra special event.

MMS is GOING GREEN - ER
The students continue to help keep the environment clean and greener. Advisement classes have chosen various projects to help recycle. MMS collects and recycles: pop cans, pop tops, and plastic bottles. Starting this semester students are assisting with recycling plastic bags (containers are in the main foyer). Anyone can send “Box Tops for Education” and Campbell Soup labels to raise funds too.
