MHS and MIS Students Receive Standard of Excellence
The building-wide Standard of Excellence Award recognizes Mulvane High School and Mulvane Intermediate School's ability to raise student performance on the Kansas State Assessments. These assessments were given to all students in grades 3-8 and High School in the areas of math and reading during the spring of 2006. Dr. Tom Foster, Deputy Commissioner of Learning Services for the Kansas Department of Education stated, "Schools that achieve this standard truly demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning for Kansas children." This is the first year for this award for schools in Kansas.
In addition, the students that were 5th and 11th graders last year received a grade level Standard of Excellence Award in Reading. To receive this award at least 25% of the students at an elementary grade level must score exemplary on the assessment and no more than 10% of students can be on academic warning. At the high school level, 15% of the students must score exemplary and no more than 15% of the students can be on academic warning.
Congratulations to all of our District students and staff that worked diligently to prepare for the assessments!
