MHS Feb. 20th & 21st Schedule for ACT, ACT WorkKeys & PreACT

Dear MHS Parents,

In cooperation with KSDE and the State of Kansas, high schools across Kansas will be administering the ACT and ACT WorkKeys tests on February 20 & 21 to all juniors as well as to seniors who haven't yet taken these tests.  In order to support our students and give them the opportunity to take these tests for free, we will run a different schedule on February 20 and 21.  As we cannot run bells on these days and we must meet all ACT testing specifications, we will run a special schedule for freshman and sophomores on these days as well.  Here is an overview of the plan:

  • On Wednesday, February 20th, all 9th-11th graders should report at the regular Late Start time, 8:45.  Breakfast will be available in the commons according to the regular schedule.
    • If you are a senior and you’ve already taken the ACT, you do not have to attend school on this day.
    • If you are a senior who has NOT taken the ACT, you should report at 8:45.
    • Juniors and seniors can leave after they’ve completed the ACT test, at 12:35 approximately.  Students are welcome to stay for lunch and study hall.
    • If you are a 9th & 10th grader, you will go on Career Site Visits and take “Adulting Day” Classes.  You will be dismissed at the regular time, 3:00.
    • Buses will run at the regular time.
  • On Thursday, February 21, all students should report to school at the regular time, 7:45.  Breakfast will be available in the commons according to the regular schedule.
    • If you are a junior or senior, you will take the ACT WorkKeys test.  Juniors and seniors can leave after they’ve completed this test, at 12:05 approximately.  Students are welcome to stay for lunch or study hall.
    • Freshman and Sophomores will stay home on this day unless they sign up to take the PreACT test.  Due to ACT specifications, we have space for 140 students to take this test for free.
    • Freshman and Sophomores who sign up to take the PreACT are welcome to attend school all day. A parent will need to excuse them if they leave before 3:00.
    • All students who attend on this day are welcome to sign up for an optional college visit to Wichita State University and Newman University in the afternoon.
    • Buses will run at the regular time.

Please contact the MHS office if you have any questions. More detailed information for each grade level is attached.
