Jason Flatt Act - Suicide Prevention

The Jason Flatt Act requires the board of education of each school district to provide suicide awareness and prevention programming to all school staff. USD 263 provides facilitated training that includes steps for recognizing suicide ideation, appropriate methods of interventions, and a crisis recovery plan.
Our school counselors and mental health professionals are available in each building if support for a mental health crisis is needed.
In addition to school counselors and social workers, our district provides school-based therapy services provided by the Wildcat Care Team. The Wildcat Care Team works with COMCARE to provide therapy and case management services for students in both Mulvane High and Mulvane Middle Schools.
